JORABAT, April 21 - University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) will award the honorary degree (D Litt) to Padmashri Arun Sharma, former Chief Election Commissioner of India JM Lyngdoh and Maulana Tayebur Rahman Barbhuiya, a social reformer.
The degrees will be conferred by Meghalaya Governor and Visitor of the University in its first Convocation tomorrow in recognition of their contribution for the greater good of the Society in their respective fields.
Padmashree Arun Sharma shall be awarded the degree in recognition of his contribution to the society specially in the field of literature and drama. Lyngdoh shall be awarded the degree in recognition of his contribution in the field of administration, policy formulation and electoral reforms while Rahman Barbhuiya is being awarded in recognition of his contribution to the greater good of the society specially in the field of education, spirituality, brotherhood, social reform and communal harmony. � Correspondent
