USTM holds media round table

GUWAHATI, Jan 19 - University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) announced several media fellowships for journalists of North East at a Round Table in the university campus on Thursday.

The event was attended by editors of newspapers and television channels as well as opinion makers from North-eastern States. Titled the event was organised by the varsity to seek advice and suggestions from the media personalities on how USTM could contribute to the media fraternity and society as a whole.

Addressing the �USTM-Media Round Table 2018�, Mahbubul Hoque, Chancellor, said that an Academia-Media Committee would be formed as a follow-up to the Round Table to finalise the topics and other details of the fellowships to be awarded by USTM to journalists from the region. He added that the fellowships will be formally launched in July 2018.

PJ Baruah, Executive Editor of The Assam Tribune, Wasbir Hussain, Chief Editorial Advisor, North East Live, Pradip Phanjoubam, Editor, Imphal Free Press, Naba Thakuria, Maini Mahanta, Editor, Nandini and Samudra Gupta Kashyap, Assistant Editor, Indian Express made several suggestions.

In his presidential remarks, Prof NK Choudhury, former VC, Gauhati University and Principal Adviser, USTM said that this academia-media interface would go a long way to help society.
