GUWAHATI, Nov 18 The Indian Railways has temporarily stopped use of the Platform number one at the Guwahati Railway Station to allow work on raising the platform. For this purpose, the Line number one in the station has been blocked.

Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) officials said the use of the platform and the track was stopped with effect from November 15.

Work has started on raising the Platform number one to bring it on par with Railway norms, and as a consequence, Line number one has also been blocked. The platform will be again opened for service in 45 days, Nripen Bhattacharya, NFR PRO, said today. During this period, services of long-distance trains, which generally are halted at Platform number one, including the Rajdhani Express, have been shifted to other platforms.

Everything has been adjusted in a way to ensure that there is no congestion on the other lines, Bhattacharya said.
