DERGAON, Aug 18 - Dibyajyoti Mahanta, an agricultural degree holder and a resident of Dergaon Daiyangia Guwal Baregharia Gaon in Golaghat district has been awarded an academic scholarship for higher education.
Dibyajyoti, only son of noted folklore artiste Rajen Mahanta and Swapna Mahanta, is a budding artiste of folklore.
He presented several musical programmes through All India Radio, Dibrugarh and also at other cultural events.
The Assam Foundation at North America awarded the scholarship based on his performance in education as well as cultural field.
A degree student at Biswanath Agricultural College affiliated to Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, he will pursue a special course of cultural studies.
His achievement has been widely praised by one and all in the locality.
