GUWAHATI, Feb 3 � The American Centre Kolkata would be playing a proactive role in promoting more people-to-people contact between the North East India and the US in the times ahead. This was mentioned by Jeffrey Reneau, Director of the American Center, Kolkata in an interview with The Assam Tribune.
He said that more focus on Assam and the rest of the North East from the American Center is in tune with India�s Look East Policy, and promoting �potential leaders� of the region will be beneficial to both India and the US.
Reneau, who has already started interacting with students as well as faculty, is hopeful that more students from the North East would get interested in studying in reputed US institutions. The American Centre has already launched a small information centre in a private institution, and is likely to extend its activities.
