By Correspondent

IMPHAL, May 19 - A package containing a metal object reportedly resembling uranium which was recovered in Moreh, a border town in Manipur, has turned out to be non-radioactive.

This came to light when a six-member expert team from Manipur University and Regional Institute of Medical Sciences visited border town and examined the object.

Police said the team found no evidence that would directly indicate the presence of radioactive substance in the object. Earlier, the package wrapped in black polythene was recovered by a police team from outside a residence in Moreh town recently after a resident informed police.

Later, a bomb disposal team from Assam Rifles came and examined the object. But they could not identify it exactly, the source added. Since then the object was kept under the custody of Moreh Police station.
