Uproarious scenes in Tripura House

By Correspondent

AGARTALA, March 8 Tripura Assembly on Monday witnessed uproarious scenes with Opposition legislators insisting for specific reply from School Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty on the appointment of teachers through job forms.

Shortly after Question Hour, Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman wanted to know by when the government would issue offers of appointment in Education Department.

In reply, School Education Minister informed the Assembly that the interview for appointment of under-graduate teachers has started today and interview for appointment of graduate and post-graduate teachers has already been completed. Offers of appointment will be issued in due course of time, he said.

But Opposition MLA Roy Barman was not satisfied with the reply and wanted to know a definite timeframe. However, the Minister said that it would not be possible to declare any particular date by when offers would be released.

Two Congress MLAs Subal Bhowmik and Biswabandhu Sen joined in the war of words. They alleged that the government has intensified its effort, which was started in 2002 to woo the voters in the ADC elections.

As the Minister stuck to his stand, angry opposition MLAs rushed to the well of the House and started shouting slogans against the Minister.

In the midst of slogan shouting, Speaker Ramendra Chandra Debnath tried to continue the House with the ongoing business.

As the opposition legislators continued with their agitation, the Speaker adjourned the House for 10 minutes. Later, opposition members joined the proceedings.
