UDALGURI, Nov 19 - The UPPL is committed to ushering in change in the real sense of the term in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). The BPF fooled the people of the region during the last 15 years and the time has now come for a change. This was stated by UPPL chairman Pramod Boro while talking to this correspondent. He expressed his confidence that his party will be able to bag more than 30 seats in the forthcoming BTC elections to be held in two phases on December 7 and 10 next.

Talking to this correspondent, UG Brahma, former RSMP, also predicted that the UPPL would finally form the new BTR Assembly, in which constitutional safeguards of all the people living in the BTR since long will be maintained and development would be the topmost priority for the new authority. Later, addressing a rally at the Nalbari playground, Boro sought the blessings of all people irrespective of caste, creed and religion for the greater cause of the BTR.

In his speech, Boro said peace and unity are back in the region with the signing of the historic BTR Accord. The public sentiment is now clearly against large-scale corruption indulged in by Hagrama Mohilary and other BPF leaders.

UPPL will fight for equality and justice for all the people living in the BTR irrespective of caste and community, he said.

Speaking on the possible defection of a few BPF ministers, MLA or leaders to UPPL, Boro said, A number of BPF leaders or ministers have been knocking on the UPPL door. But, UPPL will welcome only those with a clean image. Several top UPPL leaders and candidates attended the rally.
