By Correspondent

KOKRAJHAR, Oct 2 - The United Peoples Party Liberal (UPPL), Kokrajhar district, on Friday staged a sit-in demonstration at the Childrens Park near the Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioners office in protest against corruption in implementation of MGNREGA works in BTC region.

UPPL supporters led by vice president Prativa Brahma displayed banners and posters, and submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister, Governor and Chief Minister through the DC.

The UPPL demanded an investigation by a credible agency like CBI into the corruption and to penalise corrupt politicians and officials.

Brahma alleged that during the BPF regime, rampant corruption had taken place in MGNREGA works, and the beneficiaries have not been able to get the amount that has been credited to their bank accounts and the assets have not been created properly in the villages.

Hunger strike: The Bodoland Peoples Front (BPF) and Bodoland Students Union (BSU) on Friday jointly staged a hunger strike at the BPF central office at JD Road, Kokrajhar, demanding early elections to the BTC Assembly and stop extension of Governors Rule.

More than 100 supporters of the BPF and BSU assembled at the venue, and displayed posters and banners.
