Mechukha-Aalo Bus Service Flagged Off

ITANAGAR, Jan 24: Arunachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Pasang Dorjee Sona today flagged off APSTS (Arunachal Pradesh State Transport Services) bus service between Mechukha and Aalo in the presence of Shi-Yomi Deputy Commissioner Mito Dirchi, the heads of departments and local Panchayat leaders.

The Speaker, who is currently on an official tour to his constituency – Mechukha, thanked the State government, particularly the department concerned, for providing a new bus.

The newly introduced bus will operate from Aalo, the headquarters of West Siang district, to Mechukha and vice-versa on alternate days.

He hoped that the new bus service would greatly benefit the people of Shi-Yomi, especially poor and needy people, who face great difficulties in travelling from Shi-Yomi to other districts.

PRI members feted

Sona also felicitated the newly elected Panchayat representatives, including 130 Gram Panchayat members and four Zilla Parishad members, of Shi-Yomi district at a function held at Chu-Pala, Mechukha today.

Addressing the gathering, the Speaker lauded the leaders of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI), government officials and people of Shi-Yomi for peacefully conducting the recent Panchayat polls in the district. Calling upon the PRI leaders not to let down the hopes and aspirations of public who elected them for a purpose, Sona exhorted them to cooperate with government officers for smooth implementation of various developmental schemes.

Stating that it is the responsibility of the PRI members to inform the public about various developmental schemes and programmes of the government, Sona urged them to know their roles and responsibilities and ensure that the benefits of the government schemes reach every individual.

He also called upon the government officers to extend all possible cooperation and assistance to the PRI leaders for all-round development of the district.
