UNLF owns up AR jawan�s death in bomb blast

IMPHAL, April 15 - Manipur-based insurgent outfit United National Liberation Front (UNLF) has claimed responsibility for Wednesday night�s bomb attack on Assam Rifles jawans in the State capital in which at least one personnel of 25 Assam Rifles was killed.

UNLF �director� of publicity M Sak-hen in a press release here on Thursday night said that the bomb attack on the Assam Rifles party was carried out by a special team of the outfit as part of its ongoing struggle for independence.

A jawan, identified as one Bijendra Kumar alias Gourachand Yadav of 25 Assam Rifles was killed while three others were injured seriously during the bomb explosion that took place near the northern wall of the Assam Rifles Transit Camp at Minuthong near Khuman Lampak Sports Complex in Imphal on Wednesday evening at around 7.20 pm.

Four jawans were injured during the explosion and were rushed to the nearby healthcare centre where one of them succumbed to his injuries while the condition of three others were reportedly out of danger.
