Unique mode of protest

GUWAHATI, Sept 26 - The Northeast Frontier Railway Promotee Officers� Association along with their counterparts throughout the rest of the country has decided to devote one hour extra to normal working hours from today upto September 30 as part of what it termed as a �unique protest� against the Railway Board�s oppressive attitude towards promotee officers of the Indian Railways.

�Recently, the Railway Board withdrew the 26-year-old Senior Scale (ad hoc) promotional facility of promotee officers, which will now have adverse effect on the career progression of local talented youth... In protest against such divisive policies of the Railway Board, the Indian Railways Promotee Officers� Federation (IRPOF) have decided to show their discontent by devoting extra working hours to their normal office hours sans any extra remuneration,� NF Railway Promotee Officers� Association general secretary PC Kalita said.
