Unique husori presentation by students

By Correspondent

DERGAON, April 22 - Although husori is not a new dance form for the people of Assam, yet there are some experimentations going on in this regard. One such laudable effort is the husori presented by the students of Missamara Khanikar SB School in Golaghat district, 10 km off Dergaon town.

According to information, 50 students from Class V to VIII of the school formed a husori troupe to present Bihu dance in the nearby houses. But since most of the students come from the tea tribe community of local Doria TE, the students decided to incorporate the traditional jhumur dance into the husori. Finally, the husori consisted of Bihu naam, Bihu dance and jhumur.

Although it was just an innovation on the part of the students, it turned out to be a good model of community husori. The troupe presented its performance in front of the guardians of tea tribe and the Assamese communities.

Members of both the communities welcomed the husori and enjoyed the same. They praised the innovative efforts of the students.

On being contacted, the HM of the school, Arun Bikash Baruah opined that he allowed the students to do so as they wanted to give their best. The HM further revealed that the fund so collected will be spent for the welfare works of the students. He also praised the effort of the students and the support extended to the husori troupe by the community members. The villagers expressed their satisfaction over the husori presentation by the students.
