NALBARI, March 20 - The Nalbari district administration has geared up its activities to hold the Lok Sabha election in a free and fair manner.
Talking to this Correspondent, the Deputy Commissioner Bharat Bhushan Dev Choudhury, who is also the district Returning Officer, said that the district administration has continued its poll preparations for its three Assembly segments, namely, Nalbari, Dharmapur, Barkshetri falling under three Lok Sabha seats in Nalbari district. Interestingly, one revenue mouza in Tihu Revenue Circle falls under the jurisdiction of Kokrajhar Lok Sabha seat.
The Deputy Commissioner said that all total 5,08,829 voters, including 2,67,355 males and 2,41,474 females will cast their votes to elect their representative from three Lok Sabha constituencies including Guwahati, Mangaldai and Barpeta.
The Assembly constituency-wise break-up of voters are � 1,93,780 voters, including 1,02,142 males and 91,638 females in Nalbari LAC, 1,81,079 voters including 94,535, males and 86,544 female voters at Barkshetri LAC and 1,33,970 including 70,678 males and 63,292 females at Dharmapur LAC.
It is a unique experience that the various areas of Nalbari district fall under four different Lok Sabha seats, which seems to be a rare case in the election history of India.
