SIVASAGAR, April 18 Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas visited Assam Asset of ONGC on April 15-16.

He visited the Geleky Drill site EV 2000 5 and took very keen interest on the onshore drilling process. He interacted with all the employees of the drill site to understand the nitty-gritty of the complicated drilling activities of the field as well as the working conditions of the employees.

Pradhan was accompanied by the Members of Parliament, Kamakhya Prasad Tasa and Rameshwar Teli, Additional Secretary, MoPNG AP Sawhney and CMD ONGC Dinesh K Sarraf.

He also visited the Geleky GGS-I (Group Gathering Station-I) where oil is collected from all the wells in the surrounding areas. The Geleky GGS-I was constructed in 1968 and is currently producing over 1000 tonnes of crude oil per day.

The minister also reviewed the overall performance of the ONGC Assam Asset on April 15 to ascertain as to what should be done in order to increase the production of one of the oldest units of the ONGC.

While appreciating the efforts and enthusiasm of the ONGC officers he said, You need to think differently so that the decline in production is arrested and oil also comes from the new areas. The traditional way of thinking will not help make a turnaround of this Asset.

Pradhan said the dream of the Prime Minister towards the progress of Indias Northeast can be realised only when we are able to exploit the natural resources in this region, particularly oil and gas, in a much faster and better way.

The Minister also reviewed the various activities in the field of CSR in Assam and shared his thoughts about how CSR activities can be made more structured and people oriented. Team ONGC assured the Minister that no stone would be left unturned to achieve higher production from this Asset.
