Union Agri Min visits Rani

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Jan 30 - Accusing the State government of favouring a particular section of people, Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh today said that the Assam Government has not shown sincerity while implementing projects and curbing mismanagement and corruption.

Speaking to reporters here today, Singh said that despite hike in funding from the Centre for various projects, the State Government has been slow in implementation of schemes and utilisation of funds.

The Union Minister said that the Centre is keen to expand the Indian Council of Agricultural Research National Research Centre on Pig located at Rani.

We wanted 10 bighas of land. The Assam Government, however, wants Rs 1.60 lakh for per bigha. This was surprising as the State Governments generally provide land free of cost for such institutes, Singh said.
