Uniforms distributed among 135 frontline sanctuary staff

GUWAHATI, Dec 3 - Wildlife Areas Development and Welfare Trust, Assam, on Sunday donated 270 pairs of khaki uniforms to 135 frontline staff including the mahouts, ghasis and casual workers of Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary.

Hiranya Kumar Choudhury, former Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Government of Assam and chairman of Wildlife Areas Development and Welfare Trust, distributed the materials at a function held on the occasion.

Also present on the occasion were Pradipta Barua, divisional forest officer, Guwahati Wildlife Division, Mukul Tamuli, range officer of Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary and Dr Phanibhusan Nath, former principal of Mayang Anchalik College.

The trust is also supporting the construction of two RCC watchtower camps in the sanctuary. The camps were financially supported by US Fish and Wildlife Service.
