Unidentified body recovered at Sootea

JAMUGURIHAT, April 13 - An unidentified body of a male person was recovered on April 11 morning on the road to Barbhyuan, Sootea on NH-52. Passers-by dicovered the body, whose face was smashed. The Sootea police was informed and it sent the body for post-mortem to Tezpur.

Woman killed in accident: Padumi Medhi Borah (45), wife of Kulen Borah of Bhirgaon Biswanath Chariali was killed by a dumper AS12AC2466 on April 10 on the link road between Rangachakua and Batamari at No 2 Batamari village under Jamuguri police station. It is alleged that a dumper loaded with smuggled stones knocked down Padumi, who died on the spot. The driver fled along with the vehicle. Irate people blocked the road demading the arrest of the driver and stopping of such smuggling of forest resources. The police is on hunt for the dumper and the driver.

NGO opens classes: Manab Unnayan Pratisthan, an NGO has started a teaching programme for the poor but brilliant rural students of classes IX-X on a nominal fee recently at Jamugurihat.

Body identified: The body, which was recovered on April 9 morning at Kusumtola in front of the Khandsari Suggar mill on the link road between Dekoraiguri village and NH-52 Kusumtola, Jamugurihat has been identified as that of Muzamil Chaudhury (30), son of Late Umar Ali of Geraijaan village under Kachuwa police station, Nagaon.

According to sources, Muzamil was taking a few passengers including ladies to Tezpur in his own car Alto 800 No AS02N7223 on the afternoon of April 8. It is suspected that the passengers killed him at that place and escaped with the car, as the car was missing since then.

The relatives of Muzamil repored this to the police.The police is on the hunt of the car and culprits.
