Unfair selection in JEE alleged in Nagaland

By Correspondent

DIMAPUR, July 18 The Nagaland Medical Students Association (NMSA) has alleged that candidates under reservation have been unfairly given the privilege of superseding multiple ranks in contradiction to the Directorates assurance of a fair and transparent selection and nomination of JEE candidates through the sole criteria of merit.

The NMSA, in a release, has claimed that unfair means of JEE seat allotment has deprived deserving candidate the privilege of choosing JEE seats according to their merit list. Stating that this occurred despite the Common Selection Board comprising of twelve competent members drawn from different departments, the Association sought clarification from the Directorate.

In this regard, it asked if the selection of JEE candidates were done strictly through merit basis, why students under reservation were allowed to supersede their merit rank displacing those who rightfully deserve to hold their current deserved ranking. It also asked why the superseding of ranks was done without any prior information to the public. Furthermore, it wanted to know under what provision the rank incursions had been allowed.

Stating that the admission of those candidates who have superseded the merit list should be withheld, the NMSA urged the Directorate of Technical Education to do the needful at the earliest in order that the progression of the new students may continue without undue delay.
