JORHAT, April 19 - An undertrial prisoner at the Golaghat District Jail, who allegedly murdered his wife, was found dead in the prison�s Ward No. 10 yesterday morning.
Khogen Gohain (31), a resident of Khumtai Majgaon under Golaghat Police Station, was found dead by the other inmates, Jail Superintendent Dilip Saikia told The Assam Tribune.
Saikia said Gohain, who has been in the jail since January 17, 2017, did not suffer from any illness as per his medical records except for some stomach problem in December 2017 for which he was admitted to the Kushal Konwar District Hospital in Golaghat for four days.
�He (Khogen) was seen going to the urinal in the early hours and again going back to sleep by some of his fellow inmates,� Saikia said. The jail superintendent said that after an inquest by an executive magistrate, the body was sent for post-mortem.
