HOWRAGHAT, Sept 2 � Two traders of Samelangso bazaar dealing in cinnamon wer e shot dead by suspected militants at Chir Engti village, 1.5 km away from Samelangso police station.
Bijay Dey and Sudarshan alias Jamadar Narzary, inhabitants of Samelangso bazaar both went out at around 9 am for purchasing cinnamon from the local Karbi people at Chir Engti village nearby the aforesaid bazaar. Both the persons were shot in the head from a close range by the militants.The report of the attack reached the victim families immediately who rushed to the police station. Assam Police personnel and security forces also reached the spot soon after.
Police told newspersons that the Karbi Peoples Liberation Tiger (KPLT) is suspected to be behind the incident.
On the other hand, expressing serious concern over the killing of the two innocent businessmen, all the Bodo frontal organisations like the ABSU, BSS, ABWF, Kachari Samaj, Ex-BLT Welfare Society, DUBHA, DUBAA and BOGA have called a 10-hour Karbi Anglong bandh on September 3.
Condemning the brutal killings, the Bodo organisations demand the Government to pay adequate compensation to the families of the victims.
