ULFA linkman arrested in Garo Hills

TURA, June 19 - A suspected gun runner, Nangsem Marak (36) with links with the banned United Liberation Front of Axom (ULFA) and Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) was arrested after an early morning raid in Bolsong village under Bajengdoba in North Garo Hills.

The police also recovered a huge cache of arms and bomb making equipment that the militant was hiding in the village, at about 2 am today.

Based on information, a joint police and Army team raided the house of Nanseng and recovered one AK rifle, two countrymade pistols and AK ammunition. Besides, bomb making materials were also recovered from his possession.

�We believe he was a civilian cadre of ULFA and GNLA and was keeping arms for them. A case has been registered against the accused,� said district police chief Dalton Marak.
