NAGAON, Dec 1 - �Not only in upper or lower Assam, ULFA(I) is active in central Assam also. It is now trying to recruit new cadres through the social media and a number of youths from Nagaon are keeping up relations with the ULFA through this method,� observed Nagaon SP Sankarbrata Raimedhi. Addressing media persons at his office chamber, Raimedhi said that though ULFA is not highly active in Nagaon, it is using the social media to register its presence here.
Answering a question on hoisting of ULFA flags in Nagaon (Bhutai Gaon), a few days back, the SP informed that two persons � Naren Gohain, a resident of Diphalu and Bhaskar Bora alias Raju, a resident of Panigaon Chariali have been arrested. A car (AS 29 E 7249) and some incriminating documents were seized from their custody.
The SP further said that Naren Gohain was a member of the PLA sometime back and the PLA was working to create an independent country.
To a question by media persons, whether Naren Gohain�s wife was a constable in Assam Police, the SP only said that nobody will be spared if found guilty. He indirectly admitted that sleeper cells of ULFA are active in Nagaon through the social media and networking sites.
