DIBRUGARH, July 26 - In a pre-dawn operation, the security forces busted a hideout of ULFA (I) at Lakhipathar forest area in Tinsukia district and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunitions.
Army sources informed that the Lakhipathar forest division was cordoned off since Wednesday and a search operation was launched in the area by the Army from the 9th battalion of the Rajputana Rifles following inputs from the intelligence and local sources about the movement of three ULFA (I) men in the area. The operation was also part of the Army�s pre-emptive measure against the outfit�s preparation for subversive activities against the security forces in wake of the ULFA�s Martyr�s Day on July 27, 2018.
During the operation, the security forces seized four pistols, one revolver, two rounds of 40 mm MGL (Multi Shot Grenade Launcher), 11 rounds of 9 mm revolver,16 rounds of 2.2 mm, one round of AK-47, radio set, battery with charger, mobile phones, utensils, grocery items besides demonetized currency notes of 1,49,000 from the hideout. The ULFA men were however not traceable. They probably escaped, said the Army sources. The security forces have geared up operations further to nab the ULFA.
