NEW DELHI, Dec 15 - The final settlement of the ULFA talks will have to wait till the completion of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) process. This was the broad consensus that was arrived at after a round of discussion between the pro-talk faction of the ULFA and the Centre�s interlocutor, Dineswar Sharma.
A seven-member delegation of the ULFA, led by Anup Chetia, today held a discussion with Sharma to explore ways to take the dialogue process forward. The tripartite talk was also joined by officials of the Assam Government.
Later, talking to newsmen, Additional DGP Pallab Bhattcharya said that the final outcome of the talks would have to await the completion of the NRC process. He indicated that the final Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) may be signed next year. �It is only after completion of the NRC exercise that the talk will progress,� he said.
Talking to this newspaper, Shasha Choudhury, who was part of the delegation, also confirmed that the final settlement would take place only after completion of the NRC process.
