ULFA calls traced to Arunachal, Nagaland

GUWAHATI, Dec 5 � A number of extortion calls made to a number of firms and individuals allegedly by the Paresh Baruah faction of the ULFA were traced to Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, raising apprehensions that the outfit could be setting its base in the neighbouring States. Of late, the outfit has intensified its collection drive, especially in upper Assam and has served extortion notes to a number of individuals, including politicians.

�The penetration has been there for some time and forces have also been alerted accordingly. Some of the calls have been traced to Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland and investigation is on,� a senior Assam Police official stated.
