By CORRESPONDENT

JALUKBARI, April 3 - Prof Uday Kishore from the Brunel University, UK, will visit the Gauhati University on May 9 and 10. The scheduled visit is a fallout of an invitation extended by GU Vice Chancellor Dr Mridul Hazarika when he had led a high-profile group of GU teachers to the UK to launch the first overseas chapter of the Gauhati University Alumni Association (GUAA), Europe Chapter, on February 27.

The Gauhati University had signed an MoU with the Brunel University in 2012 at the initiative of Prof Jogen Chandra Kalita, who was a Commonwealth Fellow in the Bio-Science Division of Brunel University.

Prof Kishore, from the Bio-Science Division of Brunel University, will extensively discuss with the faculty members of GU and also with the authorities for further collaboration, including starting dual degree in certain subjects, developing joint research projects, etc. He is also scheduled to deliver a talk specially for faculty members of colleges and universities and research scholars titled Surfactant protein D as a potent mucosal innate immune molecule.

Another general lecture will be delivered by him for PG/UG students based on his own career. The title of the lecture is From Bacteria to Human: Journey of a lifetime.
