UK varsity scholar to visit GU

JALUKBARI, Aug 2 - As a follow-up of the visit of a Gauhati University (GU) team, Dr Mukhlesur Rahman of the University of East London, will visit GU on August 4 and 5.

Dr Rahman is the programme leader of the Department of Pharmaceutical Science, School of Health, Sports and Bio-science, the University of East London, Stratford Campus, Water Lane.

During his short visit, Dr Rahman will deliver a lecture on �Microbial resistance and development of herbal drugs� and interact with faculty members, research scholars and students involved in medicinal plant research and pharmaceutical science in the region.

He will also discuss developing a joint research project for collaborative work with GU faculty members.

The event will be organised by the Gauhati University Alumni Association (GUAA) in association with the Gauhati University Institute of Science and Technology.

Dr Mridul Hazarika, Vice Chancellor, GU and Dr Ramesh Chandra Deka, former Director of AIIMS, New Delhi, and presently the Vice Chancellor of Assam Down Town University will be present in the lecture-cum-interactive programme at GU. The lecture session will be held at 11 am on August 4 in the Assam-type seminar hall of GU administrative building.
