JORHAT, Dec 25 - A person coming from UK to Jorhat to visit his parents, and a domestic maid at the residence here have tested positive for COVID-19.
The Jorhat Deputy Commissionerm, Roshni A Korati informed on Friday that the district administration received information that Asfakur Rahman travelling from UK had reached here recently.
She said thereafter the administration traced Rahman and collected his sample as well as from the contact persons (family members and maid Tutumoni working in their home).
The Deputy Commissioner said that Rahman and Tutumoni tested positive and were admitted to JMCH. She stated that they (UK returnee and maid) are yet to be confirmed whether they were infected with new strain of COVID-19.
She said that both the samples will be sent to NIV, Pune to check for further tests.
�Upon enquiry, Rahman told that he had reached Jorhat on December 13 night and remained isolated for seven days. But after seven days, he visited a local shop twice� Korati said.
The Deputy Commissioner further stated that samples from the concerned shop-keeper/staff too were being collected for testing. Korati also said that Rahman�s RT PCR sample was collected in Delhi on December 13 after he reached Delhi from the UK and it was found negative.
