UGC ordinance hailed

GUWAHATI, May 29 - The M Phil degree holder teachers of 134 provincialised colleges of the State, who got themselves registered before July 11, 2009, have hailed the ordinance issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and published in the Gazette of India on May 10, 2016 for considering all the M Phil degree holder college teachers for appointment, as a positive development.

Kamakhya Prasad Sarma and Upen Patowary said on behalf of the teachers that this ordinance has made the M Phil degree holder college teachers, who got themselves registered before July 11, 2009, eligible for permanent appointment in the colleges and they need not appear in the National Eligibility Test (NET) and State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) for being considered for appointment as college teachers.

They appealed to the new government in the State to provincialise the posts of the M Phil degree holder college teachers of the State, who got themselves registered before July 11, 2009. They have also convened a meeting of all such college teachers in the city on June 9, 2016 to discuss the issue.
