Udalguri festival ends

UDALGURI, March 9 - �Udalguri area is facing a lot of problems, mostly in the field of education and health sector, but still the entire district is on the path of development and the young generation hopes to get more scope of higher education in their own district.� This was the substance with which the third edition of Udalguri festival, arranged by Udalguri based socio-cultural organisation YPM Media, concluded here at Udalguri town recently.

The voice of youths was echoed in the youth conclave held on the occasion here on the last day of the festival which was anchored by RR Sapkota, senior mediaperson of Udalguri, where representatives of various political parties, Independents and college students participated with enthusiasm.

In the open interaction with the youths of the area, Tridip Daimari, Speaker of the BTC Assembly, Bikramsingh Basumatary, BJP leader, Prashanta Khakhlary, representative of Independent candidate Anjali Daimari, Bolendra Brahma, BJP leader, Pronoy Basumatary, a leading businessman of Udalguri, Robert Narzari, MCLA of Dhansiri BTC seat, spoke on the issues related to the development of Udalguri area on almost all fronts and replied to the queries of the students present in the conclave.

After the conclave, Tridip Daimari inaugurated the cultural programme organised by the artistes of Fusion School of Dance, Udalguri, where noted Assamese TV serial comedian Bipul Rabha and Dipa Brahma enthralled the audience.

Earlier, the festival which got underway from March 5 was featured with book fair, book releasing ceremony, debate, art and poem recitation competitions among the students from various schools and colleges of the district.

Tarapati Upadhyaya, Sahitya Akademy awardee released, Sankardeva Mahakavyam, the first ever epic in Sanskrit language on the life and works of great Assamese Vaishnavite icon Srimanta Sankardev, authored by Bidyapati Dahal of Udalguri town.
