udalguri BPF opposes arrest of Pradip Brahma

By Correspondent

UDALGURI, Aug 30 The Udalguri district committee of Bodoland Peoples Front (BPF) strongly opposed the recent arrest of Pradip Brahma, MLA of West Kokrajhar LAC.

This was stated in a press release issued by the general secretary of Udalguri district committee of Bodoland Peoples Front (BPF). The BPF general secretary of the regional party of Udalguri district alleged that the arrest of the peoples representative based on the allegation of a handful people in the midnight was an instance of insult. At a time, when the flame of ethnic violence in Kokrajhar district was coming down and situation was being brought under normalcy, the arrrest of a people representative might aggravate the situation.

Condemning the arrest of Brahma, the BPF press release added that a few people did not want peace in the BTAD region and the arrest of Pradip Brahma seemed to be an indication of such act.

The BPF press note further observed that the conspiracy and instigation of AIUDF supremo Badaruddin Ajmal fuelled the communal flare up not only in Assam but also in Mumbai and other metro cities of the country, but it was pity to see the failure of the administration to arrest such person which clearly showed the partial attitude of the government. We are very much concerned at the communal voice of Ajmal, the loss of public and individual property and his anti-national recent activities, the press release said. The BPF also demanded the immediate arrest of Badaruddin Ajmal and an unconditional release of Pradip Brahma.
