GUWAHATI, Dec 20 The maiden edition of the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) organised U-13 Inter District Cricket Championship for the Umananda Bora Trophy, received a big jolt as the opening match between Sivasagar and Hailakandi had to abandoned officially for fielding over-aged players by both the teams. However, the match was played and was considered as a friendly.

ACA secretary Bikash Baruah revealed that 6 players of Sivasagar and 5 of Hailakandi were found over-aged by the medical body during their test and as a result both the teams were officially barred from taking part in the championship. Baruah said, the matter will be placed before the governing body on December 25. Now the fate of the tournament is hanging in balance as tomorrows match between Nalbari and Lakhimpur will also not be played. Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated at ACAs stadium, Barsapara here by ACA vice-president Dr Brajen Gohain and Umananda Boras wife Gita Bora.
