Two ultras roughed up by public at Goreswar

GORESWAR, Oct 28 - Two militants, out of three, were caught and roughed up by the public at Bakulguri village under Goreswar Police Station on October 25 afternoon when they had come to collect ransom from the chairman of the Bakulguri VCDC, Dilip Debnath.

Sources said that three militants belonging to two factions of the NDFB came to the village on a collect their earlier demanded ransom of Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 50,000 from Debnath. The militants stormed into the VCDC office room located near- his residence, met Debnath there and asked him to cough up the ransom. When Dilip refused to pay the ransom, the militants attacked him with a sharp dagger.

The helpless chairman cried out loudly. Hearing his cries, some people who were working on the road the VCDC chairman�s office, chased the three NDFB militants and managed to nab two them, while the third fled, firing in the air. The people roughed up the two militants and the bike belonging to the latter was burnt down to ashes. After the incident, Dilip Saikia, Inspector, Goreswar Police station arrived at the place and nabbed the injured two militants and detained them at the police station for further investigation. The nabbed militants have been identified as Ratan Boro (26), son of Khagen Boro and Bimal Rajbongshi (22), son of Nagen Rajbongshi of Bamunjhar village under Goreswar PS and Sipajhar PS respectively.
