MANGALDAI, Dec 14 - A patrolling police team from Dalgaon Police Station in Darrang district arrested two hardcore robbers on Wednesday night from different parts of Darrang and neighbouring Udalguri. The police also seized a country-made rifle from their possession.
According to police, they picked up one Ajit Singh from his residence at Mohiliapara village under Rowta Police Station in Udalguri district and recovered the firearm. On the basis of his statement, the police also picked up one Sadek Ali, a resident of village number-2 Chikonmati under Dalgaon Police Station in Darrang district.
The police were on the lookout for these two accused for a long time for their alleged involvement in several cases of robbery in public residences and on the NH-15 in the past. A case has been registered in this connection and today police produced them before a local court in Mangaldai.
