RANGIYA, March 5 - An uneasy calm has been prevailing at the Rangiya Municipal Board office following the arrest of two ward commissioners, namely Hasna Begum and Champa Roy, besides another local citizen named Rajkumari for allegedly breaking into the Chairman�s office of the civic body. They were arrested by Rangiya Police on Saturday on the basis of two separate complaints lodged by the Ward Commissioner of Ward No. 5, Seema Baishya and SDO (Civil) of Rangiya, M Bordoloi, and subsequently sent to jail.
It may be mentioned here that an internal dispute over the chairman�s selection amongst the ward commissioners of the civic body was going on since quite sometime now and the recent incident was a fallout of that episode.
