Two poachers nabbed; rhino horn recovered

DIPHU, Dec 26 � Operation to hunt down poachers by Karbi Anglong police is continuing in the district as well as at its neighbouring Nagaon district on Monday evening at around 4.30 pm. Two rhino smugglers were nabbed and a rhino horn recovered by a Karbi Anglong police team led by Balin Deury, Additional Superintendent of Police, Diphu headquarter and Khargeswar Bordoloi, officer in charge Bakalia police station with the support of Uluoni police of Nagaon district.

Bordoloi briefing newsmen said that this operation was launched under the directive of BB Chetry, Superintendent of Police Karbi Anglong district and team was led successfully by Additional SP, Balin Deuri after receiving specific information of the rhino smugglers.

The two rhino horn smugglers identified as Hairul Islam (21) of Shalpara and Anuar Hussain (30) of West Shalpara under Rupohi police station of Nagaon district were apprehended with about 1.50 kilograms of rhino horn from Solung Tiniali under Uluoni police station while they were attempted to sell the rhino horn.

Besides, the police also recovered two mobile sets and one motor bike from their possession.
