GUWAHATI, Jan 25 - The Crime Branch of Guwahati Police arrested Rishiraj Kaundinya and Jayanta Nath for allegedly duping a Haryana-based businessman of Rs 41 lakh.
A police team led by Addl Deputy Commissioner of Police arrested the duo from Camp Rhino Resort at Kuthori near Kaziranga. Commissioner of Police Hiren Nath informed the duo had cheated the businessman promising him government works in the Panchayat and Rural Department, following which a case was registered with the Dispur PS. Kaundinya claimed that he is an OSD of the NC Hills District Council.
Police also rescued two women from the guest house where the duo had put up. The women told the police that both Kaundinya and Nath asked them to come from Guwahati to discuss insurance policies, but the duo forcibly confined and raped them.
Police recovered nine cell phones, Rs 25,000 cash, seven debit and credit cards and a passport from the cheats.
