JORABAT, April 21 - The 15th Karbi Domahi � cultural and sports festival � will be celebrated on April 23 and 24 at Chamata, Sonapur, informed the organising committee.
Various cultural and folk dances of the Karbi tribe will be performed during the festival.
Dances of various other communities of Assam will also be presented by the participants during the two-day festival.
Mukundo Bey, adviser to the organising committee told The Assam Tribune that the preparations for the festival are almost over and they are anxiously waiting for the commencement of the festival.
Dipak Rahang, president and Ghanakanta Kathar, secretary of the Domahi Organising Committee said that this time they expect a bigger public participation than in the previous years. Karbi traditional food like pork prepared in the traditional way will be one of the highlights of the celebration, informed the executives of the organising committee.
Volleyball, traditional Karbi sports etc., will also form part of the celebration.
Well-known personalities who are scheduled to take part in the festival include Munindra Nath Ngatey, ADC East Kamrup and Manmohan Boro, SP East Kamrup Police.
Cultural programmes will be held on both days of the festival, which is being celebrated for the last 14 years.
