JORHAT, March 17 - Police of Nemati outpost on the outskirts of the city on Wednesday night arrested two persons, one hailing from Majuli, on charges of outraging the modesty of a woman and demanding money from her after forcefully taking photographs of her and her male friend and then uploading the same on social media a few days ago.
A police source said that Khogen Bora (33) of Kamalabari in Majuli and Apu Bora (29) of Sarigaon outskirts here were arrested under Sections 342, 323, 354 (B), 354(C), 384, 34 of the IPC, read with Section 67 of the IT Act in Case No. 508/2018 of Jorhat Police Station.
Interestingly, the source said that both the accused were drivers of passenger vehicles plying between Nematighat and Jorhat town and reportedly carrying out acts of moral policing in recent times by harassing young students and couples visiting the Brahmaputra bank.
