Tura banks asked to stop auto loans

By Correspondent

TURA, May 29 - West Garo Hills district administration has requested banks not to provide loans for the purchase of new auto rickshaws for Tura town for the time being.

The circular to the banks came after complaints made by Tura Auto Rickshaw Operators Association (TAOA) seeking a control over the growing number of auto rickshaws in the town.

The Association had given a memorandum on May 2 to DC, West Garo Hills, Pravin Bakshi seeking his intervention into the matter.

The move has been initiated due to the multiplying number of autorickshaws that is causing serious congestions on the roads in Tura, said the memorandum.

Bakshi on May 24 sent a circular to the State Bank of India and Meghalaya Rural Bank seeking a stoppage of loans for three wheelers for the time being.
