Tuki makes aerial survey of flood-affected areas

ITANAGAR, Sept 13 - Leading a high-level official team, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki today made an aerial survey of the flood-affected districts in the State to take stock of the situation.

The Chief Minister and his team witnessed the trail of devastations left by the recent torrential rain-triggered deluge in seven districts of the State during the aerial survey for over three hours.

The survey was conducted at Doimukh, Kimin under Papum Pare district, Mebo (East Siang), Diyun, Bodrumsa (Changlang), Dambuk (Lower Dibang Valley), Namsai (Namsai), Tezu (Lohit) and the worst-affected Anpum village under Paglam Circle of Lower Dibang Valley and Chiputa village near Likabali under West Siang district.

Ministers Chowna Mein and Kamlung Mossang, Parliamentary Secretaries Jomde Kena, Gum Tayeng and Nikh Kamin and senior officials were part of the delegation. Education Minister Tapang Taloh and two legislators joined the team when the Skyone helicopter landed at Pasighat for refuelling. They apprised the Chief Minister about the intensity of flood & damages.

After witnessing that Anpum village was completely devastated by the merger of Taro Tamuk and Dotung rivers, Tuki directed for shifting the village.

The Chief Minister had recently written to Union Home Minister apprising him about the flood damages in the State. He informed the Centre that there have been colossal damages to the infrastructure including roads, bridges, culverts, power and water supply lines, agriculture and horticulture fields and standing crops besides injury to and loss of human lives and livestock, etc.

He further apprised that many districts were cut-off from the rest of the world for different spells. Tuki had sought for immediate relief assistance to restore the damaged infrastructure and bringing back people�s life to normalcy.
