Tuition by govt school teachers banned

By The Assam Tribune

AGARTALA, Sept 5 - Private tuition by government school teachers in the State has been banned by the Tripura High Court.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice UB Saha passing the order yesterday, however, allowed private school teachers to offer tuition to students of other schools.

Disposing a suo-moto case, the Bench held that schools should function for 240 days in an academic year. The Bench observed that if a system of private tuition by the government teachers is allowed to continue, there would be serious deterioration in maintaining the standard of education in the government schools.

Teachers should not engage themselves by way of self-employment or accepting part-time employment in private coaching. PTI
