JORABAT, Aug 6 - Personnel from the excise department seized a truck carrying illegal liquor on the National Highway-37 at Sonapur late Sunday night.
According to the excise personnel, acting on a tip-off, the team was able to seize 1050 cases (cartons) of beer from the truck bearing registration number UP 78BN 7883.
The beer bottles were meant to be sold only in Arunachal, but the truck was carrying the consignment from Arunachal to Aizawl, they added.
The truck driver was arrested as he failed to produce the necessary documents for the consignment. The estimated value of the seized beer is said to be above Rs 10 lakh.
