Truck driver killed in bandh violence

By CORRESPONDENT

KOKRAJHAR, Nov 21 - A truck driver lost his life as sporadic incidents of violence were reported from different parts of Kokrajhar district during the 48-hour Assam bandh called by various non-Bodo organisations against the governments move to upgrade the BTAD to a Union Territorial Council.

Normal life in the district was affected in the bandh that started from 5 am on Monday. Business establishments remained closed during the bandh period, while vehicular movement on the roads was thin.

Driver Saddam Hussain died on the spot, while three other staffers sustained injuries when bandh supporters attacked them and burnt their truck at Narabari under Serfanguri police station around 11 last night. The injured have been admitted to RNB Civil Hospital here.

Police have picked up ten people from the Narabari area in this connection.
