Trough responsible for dip in day temperature

GUWAHATI, Dec 20 � A trough running between Bhutan and Bangladesh (1.5 km and 3.1 km) above the sea level has been keeping the day temperature low in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya and this is behind the present cold situation in these parts of the North East region.

This trough caused rains over Arunachal Pradesh and Northeastern Assam today. This will lead to rains over Arunachal Pradesh and Assam tomorrow also, said sources in the Regional Meteorology Centre (RMC) here.

Yesterday, rains were reported from many places over Arunachal Pradesh and at one or two places over Assam and Meghalaya.

The city today recorded a day temperature of 20.2 degree Celsius today. It recorded a day temperature of 25 degree yesterday. Today, the city recorded a minimum temperature of 15.2 degree Celsius. It recorded a minimum temperature of 11.5 degree Celsius on December 17 and 13.1 degree Celsius yesterday.

A similar situation of low day temperature and high night (minimum) temperature was reported from different parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, sources said.

This situation is likely to continue in the State till tomorrow, sources said.
