Tripura to buy more power during Puja

By Correspondent

AGARTALA, Sept 25 To ensure undisrupted power supply during the ensuing Durga Puja, the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd (TSECL) has decided to buy 25-30 MW additional power from outside the State.

While Mizoram has agreed to supply 15 MW power, Meghalaya will provide 40 MW power during the biggest festival in the State, said Power Minister Manik Dey while speaking to the media at Civil Secretariat here on Saturday. Dey said, the power consumption will go up to 230-235 MW from 200 MW during the festival.

In order to mitigate the problem of huge deficit, the TSECL has decided to buy power from outside the State. As per estimate, an amount of Rs 2 crore will be required to procure the additional power, he said. A dedicated cell will be opened at TSECL office to give temporary connection and to address problems related to power service, he said.
