AGARTALA, June 5 - The novel coronavirus continues to hound Tripura as 25 new cases were detected during the past 24 hours. All the new COVID-19 patients have travel history.

In a Facebook post, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb stated, Today in Tripura, 25 people found Covid-19 positive out of 875 tested samples. All of them have travel history.

With the latest infections, Tripura continues to remain among vulnerable States of the North East along with Assam.

Arrival of thousands of home-bound people from other parts of the country, including from neighbouring Bangladesh, has led to the spike in the COVID-19 positive cases. Some primary contacts of the returnees have also been found positive.

Meanwhile, a 400-bed COVID Care Centre has been opened at a trade fair venue at Hapania in West district. Five patients have already been admitted to the centre, which is being managed by the Tripura Medical College and Dr BRAM Teaching Hospital. MLA Mimi Majumder visited the centre to examine the arrangements for COVID-19 patients there.

The 150-seat Shaheed Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel is already full due to the steep spike in the COVID-19 cases during the last three or four days. However, there has been no fatality yet.

One more COVID Care Centre has been kept ready at the newly built building in the IGMs Nurses Training Hostel.
