Tripura Govt signs MoU with Tata Trusts

AGARTALA, July 9 - Tripura Government and Tata Trusts on Thursday launched a strategic partnership by signing a Memorandum of Unders-tanding (MoU) to expedite socio-economic development initiatives here. The joint initiative intends to implement interventions in the thematic areas of dairy development, fisheries, skill development, education, nutrition and health for improvement in the quality of life of people in the State.

Tata Trusts has also signed an agreement with the departments of Fisheries, Industries & Commerce, Education and Health to broaden the scope and implementation of strategy in all these areas.

Speaking to media, former chairman of TATA Group Ratan Tata said, �I am greatly impressed by the hospitability offered to me here. Whatever ideas I have gained, will share with the State Government to see prosperity here�.

The State Government will facilitate support in various activities through its schemes in animal husbandry, fisheries, watershed and tribal area development, border area development programme, skill development, education and health as mutually agreed upon.

For the comprehensive micronutrient and healthcare programme, the government will facilitate support from various departments like Social Welfare & Social Education, Health, Social Welfare, Food and Civil Supplies.

Chief Minister Manik Sarkar said, �We plan to confine the strategic partnership with TATA Trusts in some Block areas and later, it can be expanded to the whole State based on the experience�.

Sarkar added, �If the strategic partnership is successfully implemented, it will surely upgrade the quality of life of common people�.
