Tripura Cong leader showcaused for revolt

By Correspondent

AGARTALA, April 9 - Taking a serious note of the revolt against Congress high command Sonia Gandhi for forging alliance with CPM in West Bengal, a show cause notice was issued to party MLA Sudip Roy Barman.

In the show cause notice to Roy Barman who resigned as Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader protesting the party decision, he was asked to explain why he should not be suspended from the Congress for publicly revolting against the high command.

Confirming the serving of show cause notice to the party MLA, AICC secretary, in-charge Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee Bora on Saturday said, I have spoken to PCC president Birajit Sinha on the issue and asked him to send a detailed report containing newspaper clippings to me at the earliest.

After getting the reply on the show cause notice, the AICC will take the final decision and it is almost certain axe will fall on Roy Barman for his act, he said over telephone from Guwahati.

Bora continued, I have also asked PCC president to propose a unanimous name for the CLP leader and hopefully this will be settled within next one week.

If he leaves the Congress, the party will approach the Speaker to disqualify him as a member of the Assembly under Anti-Defection Law, Bora, who is busy with the Assembly elections in his State Assam, said.

On being asked about the fate of Asish Saha, PCC working president and Sushanta Chowdhury, Youth Congress president, who had also relinquished party posts in protest against the high commands decision, the veteran leader said, They are still starlets, actually I dont confirm information about the duo. If they go against the high command, they will certainly be served show cause notices as has been done against Roy Barman.

Bora, however, rejected that the party is facing crisis in Marxist-ruled Tripura after the West Bengal development. This kind of development is normal in politics. People come and go but the party remains. I am hopeful the prevailing situation will be solved in Tripura very shortly, added he.
